On February 23, 2021, Quetico Provincial Park became part of a very unique and growing number of parks designated as an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association.
A natural night sky, free of light pollution, is very important for plants and animals who rely on the natural rhythms of light and dark, for feeding, migration, breeding, and predator avoidance.
The Friends of Quetico Park were happy to provide the signage in the park to let visitors know about this amazing designation and the commitment the park has to keeping light pollution out of the park.
